New programme to support prevention of violence

Congratulations to LJMU's Public Health Institute (PHI), following confirmation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) that it will continue to be recognised as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Violence Prevention.

PHI has been a WHO Collaborating Centre for over a decade, and WHO's confirmation that the institute has retained this status will allow the PHI to continue to strengthen its global work on violence prevention.

To date, PHI's collaboration with WHO has enabled the institute to create new and unique partnerships, as well as developing innovative and vital resources to support countries that are preventing and reducing violence.

The PHI's four-year work programme – 2019 to 2023 - will focus on developing and maintaining the existing work programme, with an additional focus on preventing adverse childhood experiences and violence in the world's most vulnerable communities such as those in low and middle income countries.
